SAC Federal Credit Union to Host Shred Day in Blair

From WOWT Omaha http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/Shred-Day-Coming-Up-In-Blair-219604791.html

A metro bank is working to make a rip in identity theft by hosting a shred day in Blair, Nebraska on Saturday, August 17th.

SAC Federal Credit Union is asking people to bring their items with sensitive information to be shredded at the No Frills branch in Blair, anytime between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.

“SAC Federal Credit Union encourages its members, and the community, to proactively protect themselves and their finances,” said SAC representative Peggy Woltman.

SAC representatives say that Shred Day operates on a first-come, first-serve basis and all materials collected will be shredded securely off site by DataShield, an AAA Certified member of the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) shredding vendor.

“(Identity theft) Is a serious crime. Unfortunately, recovering from identity theft takes time and patience. While there are a lot of ways to prevent identity theft, cleaning up your personal information and credit score can feel like a long, overwhelming process,” said Woltman.
